About Magenta
A space for art in Guadalajara de Buga
Magenta is an art gallery with its own life inside. Besides exhibitions, we hold regular classes, occasional workshops, and creative gatherings coordinated directly with whoever writes us. What started as an exhibition space has expanded into teaching and into direct experiences with art.
We aren't a chain or a franchise. We're a local, independent space run by a small team that gets personally involved with everyone who walks through the door.
What we do
Magenta moves in three directions that share the same space.
Gallery
We curate and show artwork. We rotate exhibitions on our own calendar. We work with artists from the Valle del Cauca and also welcome proposals from further away when the conversation makes sense.
School
We offer regular drawing and painting classes and occasional project-based workshops. They welcome people at very different levels, including beginners with no prior experience.
Events and creative gatherings
We host private groups celebrating a date, closing off a plan with friends, marking a bachelorette differently, or simply spending an afternoon making something together.
How we understand the work
We work with the idea that art isn't a distant luxury nor a decorative addition. It's a craft learned with the hands, a language for saying things, a way of being with time. That shapes how we curate, how we teach, how we host the groups that come to celebrate.
Our work is careful, not mass. Groups are small. Attention is direct. There are no rehearsed scripts or autopilot experiences.
Buga as a place
Guadalajara de Buga is where Magenta exists, and it couldn't exist the same way anywhere else. The city has a cultural life of its own — a recognized patrimonial tradition, a fabric of local artists, a particular relationship with the Valle del Cauca. Magenta sees itself as part of that fabric, not something imported nor disconnected.
When you can, look at the city beyond the obvious. And when you come to the gallery, know you're also stepping into a way of being in Buga.
The team
Behind Magenta there's a small team with training in visual arts and experience curating shows, teaching classes and hosting groups. Day-to-day care is held by the founders and the collaborators who rotate depending on the month.
How to visit
We're in Guadalajara de Buga, Valle del Cauca, Colombia. Before coming, write to us on WhatsApp to check if there's an exhibition open, if we have activity that day, and to coordinate timing if you're arriving with a group.
